MENOMINEE, MI — The M&M Area Community Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Alan Kozikowski Scholarship Fund, a new charitable fund created by Menominee High School alumnus and internationally respected scientist, Dr. Alan P. Kozikowski, Ph.D.
The scholarship fund, which may begin awarding scholarships as early as 2026, is designed to support Menominee High School seniors in achieving their higher education degrees in chemistry.
Dr. Kozikowski, who graduated from Menominee High School, has dedicated his career to advancing medicinal chemistry and has authored over 550 publications with more than 100 patents to his name. Over the past four decades, he has held esteemed positions at institutions including the University of Pittsburgh, Mayo Clinic, Georgetown University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. His groundbreaking research has contributed to major developments in treatments for cancer, epilepsy, depression, and other central nervous system disorders.
Dr. Kozikowski is currently an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Medical Center and continues to lead pioneering work, including therapeutic research using mushrooms to treat depression and eating disorders. His decision to create this fund reflects his deep commitment to giving back to the community that helped shape his early years.
The Foundation is honored to help carry out Dr. Kozikowski’s vision for future scholars in Marinette and Menominee Counties.
