National Family and Community Day is celebrated each year on September 26th. In recognition of this day, the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) wants to recognize and thank all the individuals, families and businesses who have donated to the Future Fund children’s savings account program. This program helps provide funding for any post-secondary education students choose to pursue.
“As we enter the fifth year of giving kindergarten students across Marinette and Menominee Counties a $50 savings account, we are thankful for the community support this program receives,” stated Paula Gruszynski, Executive Director of the MMACF.
The Future Fund provides an opportunity for every child to feel valued, expand their financial literacy skills, and imagine what tomorrow will bring when the time comes to consider their future beyond high school. In addition to the initial deposit by the Foundation, Future Fund accounts grow by yearly deposits from the Community Foundation during the students’ K-12 career.
Research has demonstrated that children’s savings accounts help children begin to develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate educational and financial institutions – now and in the future.
The Foundation continues to need community support to grow and expand the yearly incentives given to students. For more information on how to give back to our communities via the Future Fund, please contact the Foundation at 906-864-3599. Checks for this Fund may be mailed to the MMACF at 1110 10th Avenue, Suite L-1, Menominee, MI 49858 or made online at www.mmacf.org.
